Vietnam has been selected as the best golf destination in the Asia-Pacific region in the 2017 Asia Golf Awards on-line poll conducted by the Asia Golf Magazine.
Vietnam created good impression on regional and international golfers, thus received the largest number of votes to become the most favourable golf destination in the region, said Mike Sebastian, CEO of the Asia Pacific Golf Group (APGG) – the governing body of the Asia Golf Magazine.
The result was spurred by Vietnam’s meticulous investment in golf tourism. The country is currently home to 40 operating golf courses while other courses which are under construction will be put into use in 2018.
The courses are of top-notch quality as they have been developed by the world’s leading golf course designers. The capital city of Hanoi has launched what it calls a “golden tour” taking tourists to museums, historical relics and tourist attractions in the city.
The tour, organized by the Hanoi Tourist Corporation in collaboration with the cultural and scientific center of Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, connects tourists’ accommodations with other tourist spots, restaurants and shopping malls as well as provide other tour guide services.
In particular, the tour is designed to connect luxury hotels such as Thang Long Opera Hanoi, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Hotel De L’Opera, Hilton Opera Hanoi, Hoa Binh Hotel and Melia Hanoi Hotel with some popular sightseeing spots - Hanoi Old Quarter, Ngoc Son Temple, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, the Temple of Literature, and Ba Dinh Square.

Saigontourist Holding Company, the country’s leading tourism services provider, on September 28 put into operation five new tourist boats and launched seven new river tours at Tan Cang tourist site in Binh Thanh District, HCMC, offering a new option for visitors to discover popular destinations in the city and neighboring areas.
With a luxurious design the five new modern motor boats can accommodate 25 passengers each and travel at a maximum speed of 50 km per hour.
Tran Hung Viet, general director of Saigontourist, said in a statement that river tourism has been an integral part of Saigontourist’s development strategy in recent years and that the city government has assigned Saigontourist to find ways to boost river tourism services in the city.
Three member companies under Saigontourist – Saigontourist Travel Service Co., Binh Quoi Tourist Village and Vam Sat Tourist Site – have joined forces to develop these river tours, Viet noted.
