Linh Ung Pagoda, Son Tra Peninsula

Built on a site of 12 hectares on the Son Tra Peninsula, the Lin Ung, Son Tra Pagoda is the largest in Da Nang in terms of scale and artistic architecture. The pagoda is famous for its beautiful 67-metre-tall Goddess of Mercy statue standing on a lotus-shaped platform.   A large courtyard containing many statues leads visitors to a giant three-door gate.  From here visitors can relax their minds, by gazing across the boundless sea below with numerous boats bobbing on the water and to the Marble Mountains in the distance, or cast off all their worries by looking at the gentle face of the Goddess of Mercy statue to the right.  Locals believe that this Goddess of Mercy statue, which faces the sea, will take care of fishermen and give them the strength to deal with any storms and high waves.  Inside the statue, which is equivalent to a 30-storey building, there are 17 levels, allowing visitors to admire the view from different heights.  Each of...

Linh Ung Pagoda, Ba Na Mountain

The Linh Ung Pagoda on Ba Na Mountain was inaugurated on 5 March 2004. It is one of three Linh Ung pagodas in Da Nang, the other two being Linh Ung, Son Tra Peninsula and Linh Ung, Marble Mountains. Linh Ung, Ba Na, is the highest pagoda of the three, located at around 1,400 metres above sea level.   The pagoda is part of the Ba Na-Suoi Mo Eco-tourism Zone on top of Ba Na Mountain, which is about 28km to the west of Da Nang, and is in An Loi Hamlet, Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District. Within the precinct of this supremely peaceful spot, the Most Venerable Thien Nguyen constructed a colossal 27-metre-high white seated Buddha, positioned on a 6-metre-high lotus-shaped platform that is visible for miles around.  From this pagoda, you can enjoy a panorama of the city with views of Da Nang Bay, the coastal line stretching from the foot of Hai Van Pass to the Son Tra Peninsula, My Khe Beach and the Marble Mountains.
