The central city officially put into operation its first open-top double-decker bus tour, connecting the airport and 25 stops in the city, on Saturday.

The tour is the first of its kind in Viet Nam, serving both tourists and commuters.
The city tour on the 54-seat bus, which is being operated in co-operation with Empire Group, runs from 7am till 10pm on two routes from Da Nang International Airport to CocoBay – Da Nang’s largest entertainment and hospitality complex – and Son Tra Peninsula.
The Coco bus tour ticket will be priced at VND250,000 (US$11) for a 24-hour jump-on jmup-off use.
According to Empire Group, the bus tour will be offered free for tourists and commuters throughout August, and at a 50 per cent discount between September and November.

The 10.8-km Bach Dang- Linh Dong route starts at Bach Dang Wharf in District 1, goes through Sai Gon Pearl in Binh Thanh District, Binh An and Thao Dien in District 2, Tam Vu and Thanh Da in Binh Thanh District, and Binh Trieu, Hiep Binh Chanh and Linh Dong in Thu Duc District with 12 stops en route.
Five 80-seat boats have been deployed on the route, which takes around half an hour to cover compared to 45 minutes by road.
The public-private operation is in test mode and would become official in October, Nguyen Kim Toan, director of the company, said.
The fare is VND 15,000 (US$0.7).
Three more stops would be added later in Thu Thiem in District 2, Tan Cang in Binh Thanh and Truong Tho in Thu Duc, Toan said.

Visitors can now have a much more enjoyable experience on the most popular street in Ho Chi Minh City’s ‘backpacker area’

Following over a month of delay, Bui Vien Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City’s ‘backpacker area’ is set to have its grand opening tonight, August 20.
Located in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, the city’s newest pedestrian street is scheduled to debut on Sunday night, offering local residents and tourists a wide variety of entertainment activities.
The promenade stretches 850 meters long from the Bui Vien intersection with Tran Hung Dao-Nguyen Thai Hoc Streets to Cong Quynh Street.
During the opening night, two stages will be set up in front of 33 and 204 Bui Vien Street for a series of artistic performances, alongside such activities as street cuisine, sports, and folk games.
