Caodaism was established in Tay Ninh Province in 1926.  In Da Nang, it has two sects: Caodaism Missionary and Caodaism Tay Ninh.

Caodaism Missionary

The headquarters of the Caodaism Missionary Society is at 63, Hai Phong Street, Da Nang.  The temple is a smaller, simpler version of the one in Tay Ninh.  It has three gates.  The left-hand gate to the complex is for women, the right-hand gate is for men, and the central gate is used for priests only.

The altar reflects the three major bodies of Caodaism’s organisational structure: Legislative (Bat Quai Dai), Judicial (Hiep Thien Dai) and Executive (Cuu Trung Dai).  A sign reading “Van giao nhat ly” (all religions have the same reason) hangs from the ceiling in front of the altar.  Behind the gilded letters is a picture of the founders of five of the world’s great religions.  From left to right are Mohammed, Laotse, Jesus, Buddha and Confucius.

The Da Nang Caodaism Missionary Society has 14 workshop facilities, 67 priests and about 12,000 followers.

Caodaism Tay Ninh

Priest Nguyen Dang Thong brought Caodaism Tay Ninh to Da Nang in 1956.  Its Hoa Phong Temple was constructed in Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District in 1957.  This sect of Caodaism has about 2,000 followers in Da Nang.
