
HOMELAND MELODIES

Nowaday, music is an indispensable part of human life. With the desire to bring the traditional music to everyone and also to diversify the types of music for city residents as well as foreign tourists, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music proudly presents "HOMELAND MELODIES" concert on 8th January 2017.
In this concert, the audience will not only enjoy the Vietnamese folk songs but also many new compositions for solo and ensemble of Vietnamese traditional musical instruments at a new peak. The traditional Music Orchestra of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music is a largest and unique traditional orchestra in Ho Chi Minh City. In "HOMELAND MELODIES" concert, the instrumental compositions that are written for traditional instruments will be performed by the artists whom are teaching and studying at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music such as: Hai Phuong, Thu Hien, Thanh Truc, Le Dai Duong, Tran Thien Lam, Thu Thao, Nguyen Linh Truc Lai, Nguyen Viet Thu, Phu Sa Band, and Conductor - Meritorious Artist. Tran Thanh Trung.
The Vietnamese Traditional Orchestra of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music
Was formally established in 2014 with the members are lecturers and students of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, the Vietnamese Traditional Orchestra has several artistic performances such as the "Forever Belief", the 85th anniversary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the Meeting of nationwide Journalism, the concert in "Literature and arts with the construction of the Vietnamese personality workshop" held by the Central Theoretical Council.
The Vietnamese Traditional Orchestra of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music has planned to perform more expressive programs in 2017.
Dan Tranh (Vietnamese Zither) artist, Dr. Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong
In 1992, she obtained the first prize at the 1st National Dan Tranh Young Talents competition.
Hai Phuong has been invited as a guest artist at the Contemporary and Traditional Music Festival in many countries such as: France, Italy, Japan, America, India, Korea, Iran, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, China, Singapore, etc.
She has released several CDs in Vietnam and many countries in the world.
Currently, Hai Phuong is a lecturer in Dan Tranh at the Traditional Music Department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Dan Tranh (Vietnamese Zither) artist: MA. Huynh Thi Thu Hien
In 1999, she graduated Bachelor's degree in Dan Tranh with high distinction under the guidance of Meritorious Artist Nguyen Van Doi.
In 2012, Thu Hien graduated Master's degree under the guidance of Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Minh Cam.
In 1992, she obtained the 3rd prize of category A (under 16 years old) at the 1st National Dan Tranh Young Talents competition.
She has performed in many music programs in Vietnam and other countries such as Japan, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Colombia, Cambodia, etc.
Currently, Thu Hien is working at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and a visiting lecturer in Dan Tranh of the Traditional Music Department.
Dan Tranh (Vietnamese Zither) artist Huynh Thi Thanh Truc
In 2015, graduated Bachelor's degree in Dan Tranh with high distinction under the guidance of Dr. Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong.
Thanh Truc has performed in many programs held by Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and other units.
Currently, she is studying Master's degree at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Dr. Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong.
Bamboo Flute artist Tran Thien Lam
He graduated Bachelor's degree in Flute
He has perfomed in many programs held by Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and other units.
In 2004, Thien Lam obtained a silver metal for flute solo at the National Traditional Instrumental Solo and Ensemble Festival in Dalat city held by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Currently, he is a visiting lecturer in Flute at the Traditional Music Department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Dan Nhi artist Le Dai Duong
Le Dai Duong has perfomed in many programs held by Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and other units, he has taken part in many exchange concerts in many countries such as Cambodia, UAE, Venezuela, Colombia, etc.
In 2004, he obtained Silver medal for Dan Nhi solo at the National Traditional Instrumental Solo and Ensemble Festival in Dalat city held by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Currently, Dai Duong is a visiting lecturer in Dan Nhi at the Traditional Department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Nguyen Linh Truc Lai
Studying the final year of 4 - year secondary course of Vocal Music under the guidance of Lecturer, Master Pham The Vi.
Truc Linh has participated in many activities held by Youth Group, Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and the Southern Department of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
She has performed in many prestigious programs in Vietnam and many other countries. Truc Lai participated in mission 8 on boat 571 visiting the soldiers whom live in the Spratly islands, The Musical Exchange Program in Cambodia, etc.
The prizes:
- The second Prize - Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing competition in 2014.
- Silver Medal - The National Youth Talent Competition in 2015.
- Gold Medal - the National Young Talents Vocal Music Competition in 2016.
Le Viet Thu
He is studying the first year of Bachelor in Vocal Music under the guidance of Master Huynh Quang Thai.
Viet Thu has performed in many programs held by Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music such as Broadway, Saigon Choir, Saigon Classical Music Group.
He is also a member of Lac Viet Music Band that has performed in many prestigious programs all over Vietnam.
Alluvium (Phu Sa) Group
Alluvium Group established in 1998, including the three members: Quynh Hoa, Phuong Thuy and Phuong Tuyen.
Group is named "Alluvium" as confirm that they pursue folk music. With the love for music, Alluvium Group stand firm in the face of difficulties and keep operating up to now with the desire of carrying many folk songs that have the gentle, rustic melody and full of national spirit into the audience's heart.
Album: Cheerful Rice Season, released by Ben Thanh Audio - Video in 2006, including 12 songs: Spring Walk, Lullabies by streams, Cheerful Rice Season, etc.
Currently, Quynh Hoa is working at Culture-Art Department at Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House; Phuong Thuy is a lecturer in Dan Tranh of the Traditional Music Department at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Conductor, Master, Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Trung
In 1989, graduated Bachelor's degree in Symphony Orchestra Conductor from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Prof. Dr. People's Artist Quang Hai.
Gold Metal - Composer and orchestra conductor at the National Professional Traditional Instruments Festival in 1989.
Golden Lotus Award - conductor of the Traditional Orchestra at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Music Ensemble Festival in 1994 and the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Music Ensemble Festival in 1997.
Silver Metal - Composer and orchestra conductor at the Traditional Instrumental Solo and Ensemble Festival in 2014.
He has conducted Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music's the Traditional Orchestra in Ho Chi Minh City and other places in Vietnam and at many Ho Chi Minh Television and Ho Chi Minh Association programs.
Currently, Mr. Thanh Trung is a lecturer in Flute and a conductor of the Traditional Orchestra - The Traditional Music Department of Ho Chi Minh City Consevatory of Music.
